It should be mounted on the upper part of the brake pedal or the brake pedal frame. Start at the fuse box under the hood and make sure the brake lights fuse is not blown that the terminals are free of corrosion and that the connections are tight. Only one of the switch terminals should turn on the test light. If the brake lights go off when you unplug it you have a stuck or shorted switch.
