Causes my fan to hum. Turn a ceiling fan that hums at a slow speed to high speed and then turn it back to slow. Some ceiling fans may have already had an anti hum control installed. I purchased an hvac inline duct fan and used this product to control the speed.

This product works great for what it was intended to do but unfortunately due to the nature of motors and the design of this type of controller causes my fan to hum. Fans hum because they don t know the words to the song so if you teach it the words you might just slight chance stop the humming. Hunter fan said that you can have no hum operation of multiple fans on one controller but it must be capcitor driven not solid state and probably has to be a stepped control not variable. They make a de hummer for one fan installs but not multi.

The 2nd floor of my house gets very hot in the summer. Don t hook up ceiling fans to dimmer switches. Attach the faceplate once again. Sometimes this solves the problem.

The fan control company said it s loose motor windings on the one fan it s normal. Alternatively if the humming you re referring to is the same as smelling such as my dogs bottom was humming then you would want to give it a wash and encourage the use of deodorant.
