Recent reviews seem to have put those concerns to rest. All in all its a very well made and superlight piece of kit that im very happy with. Doors can reduce the amount of colder air flowing over under and around you. Mine weighs 6 63ozs with all guy lines and a pair of dutchware tarp flyz.

Hammock gears craftsmanship is top notch. The durability of the tarp is great and after five days of rain and hail on a recent trip without getting wet i m really impressed. I understand that this was meant for hammocking so the tieout points are more geared towards that but its also a very effective ground shelter with a few minor mods. The color of this tarp is a bit greener than it appears here but it is still quite transparent. All the hardware is nice quality gear. Though it would be nice to have some customization options with it such as linelocs on the 4 corners. To me the higher price is worth the weight to save every ounce.

At 5ozs sq yard it is very light and the finished tarp comes in at 5 2 ounces. It can even be used to go to ground if someone steals all the tress from your campsite. I like having a hammock tarp with doors at the ends because they provide more wind and weather protection. I would recommend the standard dyneema cuben fiber tarp with doors.
